Yankee is an application for all the candle lovers. It is designed to create a more holisticuser experience for customers who want an easy way to shop for candles online.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
Problem
The target users face difficulty in finding good quality and long lasting candles. Customers want an easy way to search and buy candles based on burn time, fragrances and other filters.
Goals
The goal is to design an application that is intuitive to use and helps users to shop for candles based on their requirements more conveniently. The application focuses on key factors like burn time and ingredients which ensure that only top quality candles are delivered to the customer.

RESEARCH
In the beginning of my study, I conducted a user research using interviews and survey to gather information from target audience. Questions asked were:
What are user’s needs?
What are the pain points?
What are the challenges and frustations that user faces?
How often do users buy candles?
What factors they consider before buying a candle?
PAIN POINTS
From interviews and user surveys, I found out that most people raised concerns around one or more of the following –
PROBLEM STATEMENT & HYPOTHESIS
Kathy is a Software Engineer who needs to buy organic and long lasting candles because she doesn’t want to buy candles with short burn time and toxic ingredients.
If Kathy can filter candles based on burn time and ingredients then she can purchase her desired candle quickly and easily.
MEET THE USERS
Using the data and insights gained from my research, I defined two target group profiles to better empathize with my main user groups and prioritize their goals.
USER JOURNEY MAPPING
We created a user journey map to dig deeper into each stage our users will go through in order to purchase a candle.
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
Competitive analysis helped to understand the existing market and identify good practices. I studied three different applications for their strengths and weaknesses. Results defined optimal and attractive functionalities, but also showcased some shortcomings.
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
USER FLOW
I constructed a user flow of what a basic start to finish journey for a user will look like and the ways that the user will interact with the app.
PAPER WIREFRAME
Detailed paper wireframe drawings to quickly visualize and iterate design concepts, ensuring a solid foundation for the final digital prototypes.
